Give your old favourites a break this month and check out these OpenTable newcomers. There are some fantastic new restaurants to try in London, plus dining destinations in Sheffield, Brighton and beyond.

Smith & Wollensky – US chain Smith & Wollensky have opened their first UK steakhouse just off the Strand. With a menu of prime dry-aged steaks, seafood and award-winning wines, it’s perfect for date night or a pre-theatre supper. Save room for their creamy New York cheesecake!

Café Murano – Angela Hartnett has opened a second Café Murano, this time in the heart of Covent Garden. Expect Italian wines, cicheti, and dishes like Ligurian fish soup and braised lamb with Tuscan beans.

Pidgin – Hackney’s newest hot spot is Pidgin, a modern British restaurant with ex-Smokehouse chef Elizabeth Allen at the helm. The menu changes weekly and currently includes braised goat, ‘crab crackling’, and a pickled cherry jam doughnut with White Russian ice-cream.

Meat & Shake – Satisfy your burger cravings with Meat & Shake’s Truffle Shuffle, spicy Luchador or chicken Ruby Murray. Not a burger fan? No problem – try their hot dogs or their delicious Philly cheesesteak.

Cha Cha Moon – Just off Carnaby Street, this popular noodle bar is the perfect place to refuel after a day of shopping. We like their crispy duck salad, the fiery laksa, and their classic Singapore noodles.

LOBOS Meat & Tapas – Treat your favourite carnivore to a meal at this this buzzy new meat and tapas bar in Borough Market. Try small plates, slow-roasted Castillian lamb, and incredible cuts of Iberico pork.

Also new in London: Clapham dim sum bar, Fu Manchu; Dolls House (Peckham); The Refinery Regent’s Place; Camino Bankside; Bouillabaisse in Mayfair; and VQ Bloomsbury (open 24 hours a day!).

Smith & Baker Dining Room – With rave reviews from diners and critics alike, this is the place to come for a mind-blowing meal in Sheffield. Chefs Richard Smith & Jack Baker believe in seasonal ingredients cooked simply and their daily changing menu is a real treat for foodies.

Bellota – No time for a trip to Spain this summer? No problem! Head to Brighton for a day at the beach followed by cava and tapas at Bellota. During the day, you can order a fantastic value ‘menu del dia’, and in the evening, try Spanish classics like hand-carved jamon, garlic prawns and paella Valenciana.

Department of Meat and Social Affairs – This Northampton eatery serves proper milkshakes, craft beers, sticky ribs, and classic burgers made with top quality British beef. Perfect if you need a comfort food fix.

Chelsea Bar & Brasserie – This Cheltenham favourite is open seven days a week, serving beautifully presented modern European dishes in the brasserie and fine wines, beers and cocktails in the bar.

Purple Poppadom – At this elegant restaurant in Cardiff, chef Anand George creates Indian dishes with a modern twist. Try the crispy Keralan calamari, fragrant Malabar biriyani and rose petal crème brûlée.
