Top Scottish chefs head to the Foodies Festival in Edinburgh

It might feel like summer is already over but there’s still time to squeeze in another festival. This time it’s the Foodies Festival in Edinburgh’s Holyrood Park, which runs from 21st to 23rd August. After the success of last year’s festival, the organisers have extended the opening hours and added great new features like the Whisky Theatre, a Veuve Clicquot Champagne bar, live performances from Fringe music and dance acts, and restaurant tents where visitors can sample taster dishes.

The Chefs Theatre will host live demos from top chefs like Tom Kitchin (The Kitchin) and Jeff Bland (Number One at the Balmoral), as well as comedian Stephen K Amos fresh from his appearance on Celebrity Masterchef. There will be foodie master classes where visitors can try their hand at cocktail making, oyster shucking, wine and spirit tastings, and young chefs can get a head start in the kitchen too. Make sure you bring a sturdy shopping bag because the producers market will be packed full of local produce and speciality foods and drinks.

We can’t make it to Edinburgh this month but some of toptable’s favourite Scottish restaurants will be attending. Look out for the chefs from Hotel du Vin, Abode, AtriumRhubarb, Abstract, The Rutland and many more. Cookbook fans are in for a treat too with book signings from Ravinder Bhogal, Tiffany Goodall and Sue Lawrence.
