The Worlds 50 Best Restaurants

Last night, some of the world’s top chefs and food celebs gathered in London for the Worlds 50 Best Restaurant awards ceremony. As predicted by a leak over the weekend, Heston’s Fat Duck came in third, with El Bulli at second (despite being due to close next year), and first place went to Noma – a two Michelin starred restaurant in Copenhagen. Chef René Redzepi (pictured) trained at El Bulli and The French Laundry in California (number 32 on the list) and his 12-course tasting menu is priced at just £150.

The UK secured 3 places in the top 50, with St John dropping to 43 and Hibiscus making a well-deserved appearance at 49. The full Top 100 list included Marcus Wareing at 58, Zuma at 66, The River Café at 82, Le Gavroche at 92 and Alain Ducasse at the Dorchester at 95.

Some international toptable favourites were listed, with Daniel (NYC) sneaking into the top ten at number 8 and the newly bookable 3-starred Die Schwarzwaldstube at 47. The Restaurant Vendome in Cologne, best known for chef Wissler’s 24-course tasting menu, was listed at 22.

You can see the full list here or check out The Guardian’s summary. If a weekend in Copenhagen isn’t on the cards, you can treat yourself to a Top 50 dinner at Hibiscus where a 4-course dinner with Champagne will only set you back £48.50. Bon appétit!
