London gets a new restaurant with a view in May when the Shangri-La Hotel’s restaurant, Ting, opens on Level 35 of The Shard. Using produce from nearby Borough Market, the all-day restaurant will serve ‘European dishes with a hint of Asian flavour’ and boast 360-degree views across London.
If you like your food spicy, get ready for Chilli Chilli Bang Bang – a fiery food and booze festival at Dalston Yard in May. The team behind Street Feast have got together with Wahaca co-founder Thomasina Miers to bring you two days of chilli-spiked street food, chilli chocolate, guest chefs, a spice market and more. Tickets go on sale on April 8th – don’t miss out.
Busaba Eathai will celebrate Thai New Year with a Songkran festival in Hackney on April 13th. Spread over three floors at the new Fairground space, it will feature a pop-up restaurant, cookery classes, traditional music and dancing, and kid-friendly mask making and cake decorating workshops.
Visiting Bath this summer? Chef Martin Blunos has just opened a fish and seafood restaurant called Blunos at the County Hotel. The menu will focus on fresh fish cooked simply and the day’s catch will be displayed on a seafood counter where diners can perch and enjoy a few oysters.
The chefs at Foxlow have created a fitting tribute to the sweet-toothed king of rock ‘n’ roll – The Elvis Presley Sandwich. They’ve taken a fried brioche bun, dusted it with cinnamon sugar and stuffed it full of milk ice-cream, peanut butter and banana compote. It’s topped with peanut butter sauce and maple bacon, which they say is optional but we reckon is necessary.

– Jason Atherton is set to open City Social at the top of Tower 42 on May 1st. Expect ‘creative dishes’ showcasing British ingredients and a jaw-dropping view of the city skyline.
– Hawksmoor will open their fifth steakhouse in Knightsbridge this year.
– Simon Rogan’s restaurant at Claridge’s will open on May 6th and will be called Fera (Latin for ‘wild’) to reflect the influence of nature and seasonal ingredients in his cooking.
– LIMA will open a new restaurant called LIMA Floral in Covent Garden this summer.
– Skye Gyngell will open a restaurant called Spring at Somerset House in September. She was previously head chef at the excellent Petersham Nurseries Cafe.
– Boqueria are opening a new tapas bar on Queenstown Road in Battersea next month.
– The team behind Red Dog Saloon are opening Red Dog South in Clapham on April 14th. Pop in the week before for their soft opening – 50% off food!
