Not Late For Christmas Part II — Early for Valentine's Day

How were the holidays for you?  All delight and relaxation?  No, us neither, though we had masses of fun and there were some epic moments.  If the holidays were a mad scramble for you too and you’ve vowed never to be caught on the hop again, then toptable is your friend because another holiday is on the horizon and you’ve got the chance to do this one easily, elegantly and without stress.  It’s just about six weeks and counting until 14th February.
That means that Valentine’s Day will be here sooner than you can say ‘dozen red roses’.  A few simple clicks today will get you the table you want for the celebration you desire.
February 14th is a Monday this year, so you’ve got options.  You can do the absolutely classic option: 14th of February at 8 pm table for two at a romantic restaurant.  If that’s your choice, we’re ready with some of the best tables in town for an amorous supper that celebrates your love.

Piccolo Mondo

Like Piccolo Mondo in Glasgow, one of that city’s most-loved restaurants and a top diner rated establishment on toptable, too.  It’s a relaxed Italian restaurant with superb service and it won’t break the bank.
Or book another grand top-rated classic, Gordon Ramsay at Claridge’s, an amazing spot for an unforgettable dining experience that will make for a memorable Valentine’s Day.
And at the moment of writing, Clos Maggiore in Covent Garden, one of Britain’s most romantic restaurants, still has tables open for V-Day itself.
Or you can do the other classic thing: Saturday night, table for two, 8 pm, with room to extend the romance into Sunday morning if you catch our drift.  We also have superb choices for that scenario.

The Boathouse

Consider something riverside, like The Boathouse in Ely right on the River Ouse.  If the weather cooperates, you could be in for a lovely stroll before or after your meal.
Or you might prefer something in glorious countryside, perhaps with a hotel attached, like Lakes, the award-winning restaurant of the Hempstead House hotel between Sittingbourne and Faversham in Kent.
In Edinburgh, Wedgwood The Restaurant is an oasis of restrained elegance serving modern Scottish food with a lovely dining room, Royal Mile location and the sort of waiters who make a meal something of a work of art.
Now here’s an idea.  Declare the weekend before Valentine’s Day to be ‘Valentine’s Weekend’ and start as you mean to go on with a romantic dinner on Friday night, possibly booking a hotel for the weekend or his or her favourite show in the West End.  Naturally, toptable can help with all these thoughtful and romantic options too.  Hey, call us Cupid.

Indigo

In the West End, you cannot go wrong with top-rated Le Deuxième restaurant for a fine French experience pre-theatre.  Or dash on over to Indigo restaurant at the One Aldwych Hotel for a post-theatre bite of fine modern European cuisine in really smart surroundings.  Les Deux Salons restaurant is one of London’s new favourites and a hotspot for a bit of people-watching too.  And it has the French word for ‘two’ in the name!
Or you can make the 13th the luckiest day of the year and book a relaxed table for Sunday evening.   And if you do it right, you and your beloved will be wafting around all day on the 14th in a haze of love from the night before.
The excellent Grafton House restaurant in Camden is a modern romantic with inventive European cuisine and a lively bar scene, and it’s open quite late so you can linger if you like.
The River Bar and Restaurant at The Lowry Hotel in Manchester combines cutting edge design with fine modern European cuisine and water views.  Sounds like a recipe for romance to us.

Hotel du Vin & Bistro

The Hotel du Vin and Bistro is brilliant wherever you find it, but we’re thinking Birmingham’s is very special.  It’s set in the impressive building that was once a hospital.  It’s now a an ornate and romantic spot for dining and especially wining and dining with the love of your life.
We’ll be chatting more about Valentine’s Day, of course, but you’d be a wise and clever lover indeed if you got booking now.
