The Ledbury, known for its incredible tasting menus, took fourth and Heston’s London restaurant, Dinner, came in fifth.

London diners will be pleased to see neighbourhood restaurants like The Dairy Bar & Bistro, Roots at N1 and Quantus on the top 100 list, as well as fine dining favourites like Galvin La Chapelle, The Grill at The Dorchester and Tom Aikens.

Dishes at Trinity, Clapham, and The Artichoke, Amersham.

While London restaurants account for half of the top 100 list, the top ten includes five toptable diner favourites from outside the capital. These include Upstairs at the Grill, an NYC-inspired steakhouse in Cheshire; the family-run Carters in Birmingham; and Wild Mushroom, a modern British restaurant in a converted farmhouse in East Sussex. In the full list of top 100 restaurants, Scotland, Manchester and Birmingham were also well represented.

British cuisine proved the most popular with toptable diners, accounting for nearly 30% of the list, followed by French (24%) and modern European (16%).
