This festive season, OpenTable is excited to team up with Mastercard to launch Dine Local and help tackle food poverty whilst supporting local restaurants.
For every booking made through OpenTable at participating Dine Local restaurants between 1st – 14th November and seated before the end of the year, OpenTable and Mastercard will donate £5 per diner to FareShare*, the UK’s biggest charity tackling hunger and food waste. In Ireland, €5 per diner will go to Crosscare who provide community and food services across Ireland.
Last year, festive celebrations were put on hold as COVID restrictions saw restaurants closed, parties cancelled, and fewer guests at our tables. This Christmas, 30% of British diners are looking forward to big celebrations with family and friends in restaurants over the festive period. With Dine Local, the bigger the booking, the larger the charity donation, so now’s the time to round up your favourite people and enjoy good food for a good cause.
Help tackle food poverty
Throughout the campaign, OpenTable and Mastercard will donate £5 per diner to FareShare so they can deliver up to 20 meals to those who need them most. FareShare redistributes surplus food to charities across the UK who provide meals at school breakfast clubs, homeless shelters, and community cafes. Every week, they provide enough food to create almost a million meals for vulnerable people.
For diners in Dublin, OpenTable and Mastercard will donate €5 per diner to Crosscare, to support their work in homeless, youth, community, and food services.
Support local restaurants
Nearly a third of Brits are keen to support local restaurants during the festive season, waving goodbye to Zoom quizzes and hello to happy hours, date nights, and dinners with friends and family. With Dine Local, you can find the perfect neighbourhood restaurant – whatever the occasion.
Where to dine
From cosy bistros to award-winning neighbourhood gems, you can Dine Local at over 150 participating restaurants in London, Manchester, Birmingham, Newcastle, Leeds, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Dublin, and Belfast. Here are just a few of the local eateries you could try:
