Deals Beside the Sea

Summer means ‘seaside’.  Whether your summer is balmy breezes or pelting thunderstorms, there’s nothing that restores the soul like waves and sand.  And after a stroll or a swim, there’s nothing that restores the inner man or woman like a fabulous deal on a great meal nearby.
Just off The Kingsway in Hove, for example, Bali Brasserie restaurant has a terrific Indonesian/Malaysian menu and a quirky ambience that attracts a fun crowd.  The pool tables and live music with dance floor don’t hurt either.  The three course set menu for just £12 should inspire you to book immediately.
A pair of restaurants in Brighton’s famous Lanes just a short toddle from the seafront are local favourites of long standing and deserve closer inspection.  Gar’s Chinese has been delighting Brighton diners for decades with its classic and modern Chinese, Thai and Japanese dishes.  It’s family-run, so you know care is taken with every dish, and there’s a super special offer on: two courses and a drink for £30 per couple.  Just along the road, Food for Friends is a vegetarian and vegan restaurant that is truly not just for non-meat-eaters and it, too, has been a Brighton landmark for years, famous for its innovative and generous cuisine.  Special deals at lunch and supper right now might just tempt you to try it — you can thank us later.
In Edinburgh, you might be more likely to have the romantic windswept walk encounter with the seaside, but that’s excuse enough for us to head for this sublime lunch deal at the Michelin-starred Restaurant Martin Wishart in Leith near the Leith Docks.  Three courses with amuse bouches, petit fours and a glass of champagne for £28.50 is a canny deal, especially for a dining experience of this excellence.
Not quite next door to the sea, but so close and so brilliant it’s worth the five-minute stroll, The Ambrette restaurant in Deal is an innovative Indian eatery that is plastered with awards and recognition.  When toptable diners visit The Ambrette, they award it top marks and use terms like ‘blown away’.  There are a couple of special deals ending soon, so grab them now.
The Green Room in Bournemouth is the epitome of environmentally sustainable living, so you can have lunch, supper or a bang-up champagne tea here with no guilty afterburn.  The ambience is glamorous and modern and a trendy young crowd enjoys the modern European menu under the direction of Andy Hilton, formerly of the Bath Spa Hotel.  Right now you can enjoy a three course set meal for £15.50 or the champagne tea for just £15.
We can’t promise sun, but sea, sand and deals is an excellent way to get yourself out into the summer and grab the season with both hands.
