Athenaeum goes green for summer

This summer, the Athenaeum will bring a touch of natural beauty to the heart of Piccadilly when French botanist Patrick Blanc creates a stunning ‘Living Wall’. Climbing eight floors of the exterior of the hotel, the wall will be made up of 280 different plant types and will use a self-irrigation process to allow them to grow without soil on a vertical surface.

Patrick has collected a variety of rare species from all over the world, including his favourite – the Japanese iris, the maidenhair fern, and other exotic plants from Brazil and Chile. The ‘outdoor living tapestry’ aims to bring a bit of biodiversity to the heart of our bustling Capital.

If you want to check it out, there’s never been a better time to go because the Athenaeum are currently running five excellent special offers. For a luxury meal without the killer price tag, there’s a set lunch menu including a glass of Champagne for just £16 or 50% off the a la carte in the early evening. Afternoon tea is just £26.50 including a Kir Royale so why not treat your Mum or girlfriend this month?
