12 days of festive fun – 3. Christmas cocktails

Not a fan of hanging around ice rinks or Christmas markets in the cold? No problem! Head to one of London’s award-winning cocktail bars or cosy winter terraces and get stuck into the Christmas spirits. Here are five of the best festive drinking dens to visit in London this winter.

Dishoom's Mulled Bramble.

Dishoom’s Mulled Bramble.

Dishoom, Covent Garden – Swap tedious turkey for a modern Indian feast at this buzzy toptable favourite near Leicester Square. Their festive drinks list includes spiced winter Pimm’s, a mulled bramble, and warming cups of chai with a twist of Cognac, Baileys or bourbon.

Steam & Rye, City – Nick House and model Kelly Brook have brought a glamorous slice of 1920s Americana to the heart of the City. Wash down BBQ ribs, steaks and jumbo shrimp with cocktails like the Five Dollar Shake and a chilli-infused tequila-based drink that’s served in a smoking cowboy boot.

Fifth Floor Harvey Nichols, Knightsbridge – At the top of one of London’s best-loved department stores, you can work your way through a cocktail list inspired by the 12 days of Christmas carol. There will be a new drink to try each day from December 9th, starting with the vodka-spiked Partridge in a Pear Tree and ending with Twelve Drummers Drumming – a nutmeg-dusted tipple made with VSOP Cognac.

Bluebird, Chelsea – At this King’s Road institution, you can take to the ice at the Bluebird Skating Rink and enjoy a pre-dinner Red Royal, a decadent blend of Belvedere Red vodka, crème de cassis and Moet & Chandon Brut Imperial.

Fish Market, Liverpool Street – The covered terrace at this City seafood restaurant has been transformed into a winter wonderland inspired by British funfairs. Settle in amongst the twinkling fairy lights and feast on their signature Three Seas cod burger, popcorn shrimp, gingerbread goldfish, and alcoholic snow cones. Their cosy blankets and spiced cider are guaranteed to banish the winter chill.
